30% club member calls for more women in senior management

Workplace entrance

The Guardian Women in Leadership

In a recent article in The Guardian Women in Leadership (Friday 20th June) by Emma Howard Boyd, a member of the 30% Club Steering Committee and chair of the 30% Club Investor Group.  Ms Howd Boyd calls for aspirational and measurable targets for women at all levels in order to make real progress on diversity.

Growing the female talent pipeline needs to be high on the agenda for every board and executive committee. While progress has been made in increasing female representation on boards over the last three years, this has, on the whole, been achieved through an increase in the appointment of female non-executive directors.”

Ms Howard Boyd cites organisations that are already leading by example and setting aspirational targets “Lloyds Banking Group, which this year set a target of 40% of senior roles to be held by women by 2020 (currently 27%); and Diageo, which aims to grow leadership roles held by women from 28% to 30% by the end of 2014).”
